Beginner Guitar Lessons

Beginner Guitar Lessons is a multi part VIDEO series on how to play guitar. These free guitar lessons will help you learn to play guitar through videos, visuals and a linear approach.

These online guitar lessons are designed for the absolute beginner all the way up to the seasoned songwriter that wants to have a deeper understanding of country, rock, blues and jazz theory.


BEGINNER GUITAR LESSONS INTRODUCTION


Here is the syllabus for these FREE online guitar lessons:

PART 1 Stringing a Guitar - Learn how to string a guitar. We'll cover equipment needed, guitar string names and the process involved in removing and stringing an acoustic guitar.

PART 2 Tuning a Guitar - Learn how to tune a guitar. We will use an electric tuner and will review the string names. We'll look at alternate tunings such as dropped D and DADGAD. Lastly, we will identify all 12 chromatic scale names on the guitar.

PART 3 (C Chords) - In these beginner guitar lessons we will learn to play a C Major chord and a C minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of C Major.

PART 4 (G Chords) - We will learn to play a G Major chord and a G minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of G Major.

PART 5 (D Chords)
- We will learn to play a D Major chord and a D minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of D Major.

PART 6 (A Chords) - We will learn to play an A Major chord and an A minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of A Major.

PART 7 (E Chords) - We will learn to play an E Major chord and an E minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of E Major.

PART 8 (B Chords) - We will learn to play a B Major chord and a B minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of B Major.

PART 9 (F Chords) - We will learn to play an F Major chord and an F minor chord in multiple places on the guitar. We will also learn all of the diatonic chords in the key of F Major.

PART 10 (Country Chords) - Country guitar chords are all of the open chords we have discussed in beginner guitar lessons. The major pentatonic scale is the most popular of guitar scales used in country music.

PART 11 (Rock Guitar) - The minor pentatonic scale is the most popular of guitar scales used in rock music. It is played over rock chords and power chords.

PART 12 (Blues Guitar) - The blues guitar scale is played over blues guitar chords. We will discuss blues chords and the blues scale. Included are 3 video examples of progressions.

PART 13 (Jazz Guitar Chords) - Jazz guitar chords or jazz chords include not only augmented chords and diminished chords, but also a variety of other music theory chords.

PART 14 (Jazz Guitar Scales) - Jazz guitar scales begin with understanding the diatonic guitar modes. We will also discuss the harmonic minor and melodic minor scales.

Appendix A (Fingerpicking Guitar Techniques) - Fingerpicking guitar techniques will include fingerpicking guitarists and blues fingerpicking. We will also explore various fingerpicking patterns.

Appendix B (Free Music Lyrics and Chords) - Here you can search for your favorite bands and songs. We will also explore rock, pop and country music lyrics and chords, song chords and lyrics as well as gospel music lyrics and chords.
